So, today is the first day of National Hidradenitis Suppurativa Week!
What is Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)? Well it's actually quite a common skin disease, thought to affect around 1% of the UK's population. HS is basically glands on your skin which, for an unknown reason, close up. This then means nothing can get in or out causing a lump/boil under the skin. The lumps are usually painful and may ooze puss and blood and will probably permanently scar skin. People who have HS, like me, are usually really embarrassed so don't want to show/tell anyone. That's what happened to me. I eventually did go to my GP who diagnosed me straight away and referred me to a dermatologist. I now have appointments every three months and am taking a concoction of medication (Pictured below). If you think you have this condition or know someone who might, or even just want to help raise awareness, feel free to share this information or ask any questions in the comments.
Bye!!
:)
